Our Mission in accomplishing this great event is to provide the community an opportunity to come together to honor, respect, remember all who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country's freedom. By doing this, we also honor all Veterans and those serving today, because they know they will never be forgotten. We must always separate the war from the warrior and be never failing in our support for our Men and Women in the Armed Forces.

Schedule of Events  (subject to change)

• Wednesday, 23 July 2008  ESCORT INTO TOWN
• Begin at Independent Printing Fulfillment Center, 715 N. 72nd Avenue in Wausau
• Line Up time is 5pm. Escort AVTT into town beginning 6:00pm
• Greeting Program, Bill Forest will read proclamation
• Parade from 72nd Avenue to VFW on River Drive
•  Small reception to be held at VFW Clubhouse
  
  
• Thursday, 24 July 2008    SHERIFF/POLICE/FIRE DEPARTMENTS
• Setup exhibits beginning 7:00am
• The Cost Of Freedom Exhibits open for viewing at noon
• Honor Guard - Posting of Colors (Police Department) at noon
• K-9/Bomb Unit/Dive Squad/Fire Engine/Ambulance & Aerial Ladder on display
• Wausau Concert Band to perform from 7:00-8:00pm
  
  
• Friday, 25 July 2008    ARMY RESERVE/NATIONAL GUARD
• Reserve/National Guard personnel Posting Colors at noon
• Humvee, Hemmett, etc. to make it "militarized"
  
  
• Saturday, 26 July 2008     ROLLING THUNDER/PATRIOT GUARD/VVA, ETC.
• Motorcycles "Ride to the Wall"
• Noon Man of Honor Society - Post Colors
• Place POW/MIA Wreath and reading names of soldiers that are still POW/MIA from Wisconsin
• Montazh Band playing inside VFW Hall from 8pm-midnight

• Sunday, 27 July 2008 VETERANS GROUPS DAY
• 1:00pm Non-Denominational Church Service
• 2:00pm  Raise the Flag at the display with National Anthem 

   Place Gold Star Mother's Wreath (with bag pipe music)

   Place POW/MIA Wreath (with bag pipe music)

   Speaker - short speech (George Flynn)

   Release Balloons (with bag pipe music)

   Merrill City Band will play throughout the ceremony until 4:00 P.M.
• 4:00-8:00pm Polish Connection playing inside VFW Hall
• 5:00pm Gifts In Kind Raffle Inside VFW
• 8:00pm   Gather Outside, Distribute Candles (for Candle Light Vigil)    
• 8:30pm   Rifle Salute, Lower Colors, Taps, Light Candles, Prayer, Silence - Disburse
